The Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students (LANTITE) is a compulsory test to be completed by future qualified teachers. This test is a fundamental aspect in ensuring graduating teachers are equipped to meet the demands of teaching. The test results will often be required to be presented to potential employers, further education providers and various state and territory bodies to be deemed a qualified teacher.

The LANTITE test instills confidence in parents, families, employers and the general public, that graduating teachers are able to adequately to teach students by meeting a certain standard.

The LANTITE test is literacy and numeracy focused, and assesses each candidate’s personal literacy and numeracy skills. All students who are studying education at any level (undergraduate or postgraduate), are required to successfully complete the test prior to their graduation. This test enhances teachers skills, knowledge and strengthens the quality of teaching.
