Sales & Admin Assistant

Established since 1996, Tutoring for Excellence is a business management system for tutors.

At present tutors and their customers engage throughout Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide, Wollongong and Auckland. Tutoring for Excellence is experiencing ongoing growth with a continuous expanding range of service locations.

We are seeking to employ a casual Sales & Admin Assistant to join our busy office based in Thirroul, Wollongong.

About the role

You will provide a high level of service and sales support to our existing and new customers.

You will report to the Sales and Admin Manager and be based out of our Thirroul office. Some of your duties and responsibilities would include:

  • Inbound & outbound sales calls
  • Responding to enquiries via telephone and email
  • Support to students and tutors
  • Screening new tutors – This role will require the successful applicant to use their own intuition to assess potential tutors and gauge if they would be a suitable addition to our company. It is one of the most important positions of the company and previous experience in a similar role will be highly advantageous.
  • Administrative duties and record-keeping in an online database

The role is interesting, varied and at times demanding.

This is offered as a casual position, 2-3 days per week (Mon-Fri).


About you

To be successful in this role, you will be an individual that possesses a strong sales background and thrives on attention to detail. The role requires clear and confident communication skills and a team focused attitude. It also demands a high level of organisation.

What we’re looking for:

  • If studying, you must be at least in your 2nd year of university, plan to be studying in 2019 and ideally completing a double degree. Or you’ve completed a degree and looking for part-time work only.
  • Preferably have previous administration, sales or customer service experience.
  • Previous administration and/or strong sales experience
  • confidence to handle a wide range of (phone and email) customer enquiries and issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • You must be confident, well organised and highly motivated.
  • Able to work effectively in a small team environment.
  • Knowledge of the Australian school syllabus and tutoring experience would be an advantage.


This position is due to commence in the middle of January 2019 for 3-4 days per week during January and February, then 2-3 days when university resumes in March 2019.
